We are looking for a full time Books Data Analyst in Dordrecht to provide invaluable insights on the quantitative trends as well as the performance of our book portfolio. Data on book output, usage, sales, citations and other performance metrics will become second nature to you. You will pinpoint book segments that warrant attention, highlight both traditional and new strengths and provide suggestions for optimization. Analysis of available competitor data and external website crawling will be part of your activities as well. You are able to make SWOT analyses and to translate your findings into lucid presentations for non-experts. You will have a particular focus on analysis that helps enhance the knowledge within Research Sales and Marketing of our book portfolio, but may also need to contribute to strategic projects that fall outside of this as required. You possess strong statistical skills combined with a business-oriented mindset. You will be an expert in collecting, analysing and presenting book portfolio data. You are a networker who collaborates efficiently with colleagues from different departments and you enjoy communicating your findings.
Compile and distribute reports to help meet the information needs of internal customers in the Book Management and Research Sales and Marketing teams.
Analyse data using statistical techniques; identify, analyse, and interpret trends or patterns.
Create dashboards, graphs and visualisations to ensure effective communication.
Provide concise insight reports describing key data and trends.
Investigate, develop, implement and monitor automated reporting for the most common or routine requests.
Maintain and optimize existing lists such as the Major Award Winners list, the Top Textbooks per subject list, and the list of most used textbooks and MRWs for Proquest + EBSCO.
Create ad hoc reports in response to pressing Sales requests related to key customers or prospects.
Collaborate with other departments (Market Intelligence, Analytics Center of Excellence, Application and Data Support, MRPA etc.) to identify and optimise the use of data sources and to support alignment of data and company initiatives where required.
Connect with the developers of existing data-driven tools, or tools in development such as the Book Performance Estimation Tool, the Access Checker, and the Book Series reporting tool to drive their further improvement.

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in statistics or a scientific subject.
A passion for data and an understanding of how to work with large data sets.
Strong knowledge of and experience with Excel, GBQ and data visualization software (Google Data Studio / Tableau).
Strong statistical and analytical skills, with a demonstrated ability to accurately collect and organize information.
Excellent data presentation and report writing skills.
Familiarity with coding, scripts, and web crawling.
Training/work experience in a field related to science or data analysis.
