Trading & Supply Products (TSP) is at the heart of Shell’s Downstream business. TSP has the primary responsibility of managing and optimizing the physical supply chain as well as creating value though proprietary trading. Our goal is to create value for the Shell bottom line, by maximizing the overall value potential across different lines of business and portfolios by delivering the right product to the right place on time at the maximum margin potential.

The Supply Analyst is part of a team which provides critical solutions and insight that drives integrated value generation in the DACH, BeNeLux and North Sea clusters.

The team is acting as a competence center of excellence and combines talent development, knowledge building and organizational and optimization sustainability.

As an active member of the Exposure Management and Mass Balance Analysis team and reporting to the Team Lead Cross Asset Optimization and Analytics, together with the other analysts, will oversee and contribute to the price risk management process using Apollo and DEX. The Trading and Supply Products organization currently runs 17 DEX books within Northwest Europe, with more coming as BioLNG will also be included in the near future.

The candidate will be exposed to Price exposure management and P&L in relation to market pricing and trading techniques.

The analyst is expected to control the inputs of the books and ensure processes are followed to guarantee a quality outcome provided by DEX. He/she will support Root Cause Analysis and solving process / system problems. He/she is expected to be able to explain the drivers of exposure and Month to Month DEX P&L and lastly closing the supply books each month doing a Mass Balance check for GSAP vs DEX..

The Supply Analyst is also responsible for running small to larger (agile) improvement activities which can take many forms, from developing tools or changing ways of working to supporting the NE European supply chain prepare for the energy transition.

Job Responsibilities

As a Supply Data Analyst, you are expected to :

  • Close cooperation with Traders, Channel Optimizers, Deal Makers, Deal Implementors and Commercial oil operators on connecting physical supply chain to book movements
  • Align daily with the Traders / Channel Optimizers about the hedge and be able to explain the drivers of the exposure and P&L changes.
  • Track and support the resolution of input/process inconsistencies.
    DEX management, maintain the Profit Group by reconciling GSAP, DEX and Apollo data, roll and allocate internals between Deal Groups (aka Mass Balance Reconciliation).
  • Ensure all tools and interfaces are working, including maintaining the mapping of contracts between GSAP and FED contracts in Apollo


  • Covering 8 countries (Northwest Europe), with focus on Germany.
  • Connecting different Class of Business Manufacturing, Commercial Fuel, Mobility, Trading desks, Supply Operations.
  • Supporting the Energy transition: bigger and bigger impact of LCF as part of our main grade offerings, as all Supply books are covering both Hydrocarbon value and Bio value.

Job requirements

The successful candidate must be confident to work with large amount of data and keen to understand Supply and Trading processes and ways of working and will have experience with DEX and/or GSAP and willing to learn how to connect Supply and Trading environments.
